Questions

Company Name Question
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue Hi, Regarding the City of Azle – Dunaway Lane Reconstruction project (Azle Bid No. 2026-005 / JM No. 21256), I found 44 total callouts for "Reconnect Existing Water Meters" (including those with the ICV). Since the combined total for the bid item is 22, I am assuming that half of these callouts are for removal and the other half are for reconnecting. Could you please confirm if this assumption is correct? Best regards, Kathleen Donahue Estimating Technician, Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC (214) 296-9744 (469) 571-6327 www.interstatepipeline.com kathleen.donahue@interstatepipeline.com PO Box 152957 Dallas, TX 75315
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue Could you please clarify the specific type of sand required for the sand bedding (e.g., concrete sand, cushion sand, or another specification)? Thank you, Kathleen Donahue
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Concrete Paving Note #6 on sheet 03 references Class C (3,600 PSI) per NCTCOG which is a 6-Sack mix. There is no reference to machine or hand paving. Will there be any additional requirements for hand pour mix such as an extra sack of cement or different strength requirements. NCTCOG has different requirements for hand placed paving and machine placed paving. Please clarify if all paving regardless of placement type is to be Class C 3,600 PSI.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson 3. Concrete Paving Note #9 on sheet 03 states Fly Ash is acceptable if approved by Owner. Will city allow the use of Fly Ash as stated in this note?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson There are several power poles to be relocated, shown on the demolition plans, who is responsible for this relocation
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Sheet 12 shows several Telephone Pedestals to the relocated?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Several signs to be relocated. Bid proposal Item #8 only has a quantity of 1 each. Please clarify the quantity.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Clarify the details for the 8” Mountable TxDOT curb shown on plan sheet 14. The TxDOT-CCCG (FTW) detail sheet 94 does not have a 8” mountable curb detail. We also need to know if we are installing a curb/gutter section or only curb section. The section detail on sheet 14 indicates a curb and gutter section but the plan view seems to contradict this section detail. I also do not find a pay item for this curb, how is it paid? The plan view and section also references asphalt paving on one side, what are the limits of the asphalt and thickness and how is it paid?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson The median cross section detail indicates the subgrade under the 8” stamped median paving is subsidiary to Items 527-7001 and 536-7002. What items are being referenced here and what is the subgrade material?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson The paving details on plan sheet 58 indicate the roadway paving is 7” thick and the driveways are 6” thick. There is no pay item for driveways, so I assume this area is included in the pay item #10 – Furnish & Install Concrete Pavement with Curb & Gutter. Typically, there is a pay item for driveways especially with them being a different thickness. Can we get a pay item added for 6” Driveways?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson The roadway plan sheets have the walk section that crosses the driveways denoted in the same color as the sidewalk. Typically, the walk section crossing through the driveway is poured and paid as driveway. Please clarify the intent of payment for this section. I understand it will have to be installed at 2% cross slope, but will it be paid as driveway or sidewalk.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson I do not find any details for the sidewalk section please provide a detail showing the desired thickness, rebar size & spacing, and expansion joint spacing and details.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson There is no pay item for lime stabilization or lime material. Can you add a pay item for the lime stabilization, paid by the SY, required under the concrete paving and asphalt paving along with an associated pay item for the lime material paid by the ton. The roadway detail on sheet 58 shows 6” stabilized subgrade w/ 4% lime treatment. I assume the actual lime application required will need to be determined by a soil series which means at this time we do not know what the 4% application rate will equate to in regard to lbs/sy.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson The Typical Asphalt Pavement Section calls for 4” HMAC on 6” Crushed Aggregate Base on 6” Lime Stabilized subgrade. Is bid item #13 Gravel Roadbase for the 6” Crushed Aggregate Base under the asphalt paving? There also are several gravel driveways shown on the plans how do they pay? Do the asphalt driveway, plan sheet 15, get this same paving section with lime stabilization and crushed aggregate base. It will be very difficult to lime stabilize these small areas and work around the slotted drain.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson There is no pay item for Unclassified Street Excavation. The profile view indicates the roadway grade is going to be lowered 1’ or more in a lot of the areas. The pay item for removing existing asphalt is 6,622 cy and pay item #4 would add 186 cy for a total excavation of 6,808 cy. Based on the paving area of 26,500 sy this would equate to an average cut of only 9” or so. The profile drawings seem to indicate a significant amount more. Are there cross-sections available so we can better evaluate the quantity of excavation required. Has the engineer accounted for the paving thickness because in the areas where the profile shows 1’ cut or more from the existing surface to the proposed centerline top of pavement there would be at least 19” or more of cut to subgrade. There also is a significant amount of parkway and channel type grading required, which I do not see a pay item for channel excavation. If the engineer is not going to quantify this work and add pay items to cover it we really need cross section drawings to be provided so we can accurately quantify the required work.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson There is no pay item for topsoil. Will topsoil be required in the parkways?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Is the striping/pavement marking work shown in the plans to be done by others? I do not find any pay items for this work.
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson Can you add a pay item for Handicap Ramps?
Stabile & Winn, Inc. Jerry Henderson 23. The contract time of 270 calendar days seems too short. There is a lot of utility work to performed and it will have to be completed prior to the paving starting. I do not believe there will be much of the utility work that can be performed simultaneously either. Just guessing after reviewing the plans I would think you’re looking at more like 500 to 550 calendar days.
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue 1. Sanitary Sewer Backfill: What is the required backfill material/specification under paved and gravel areas? 2. Headwall Types: The headwall types other than the 24" SETs are not specified. Could you please provide clarification? 3. Riprap Quantities: The plans specify a Riprap median size (D₅₀) of 18 inches nominal diameter, but no quantities are provided. Could you please specify the required quantities? 4. Force Main Cleanout: A cleanout is called out on what appears to be a force main. Since force mains typically do not have cleanouts, could you please clarify this requirement?
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue Could you please confirm the class of pipe for both the RCB (Reinforced Concrete Box) and RCP (Reinforced Concrete Pipe) for this Project?
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue Could you please clarify the specifications for the concrete liners called out on sheets 30 and 32?
Interstate Pipeline Utility Construction, LLC Kathleen Donahue Regarding Sheet 03, Sewer Line Construction Note #3, it states: "ALL SERVICE LINES SHALL BE REPLACED TO THE PROPERTY LINE AND NEW CLEANOUTS INSTALLED. SERVICE LINES LONGER THAN 10' SHALL BE REPLACED." Could you please confirm the exact number of services and cleanouts required so we can ensure accurate accounting?
